Høgskolen i Buskerud, Buskerud University College (coordinating institution). University College with faculties of engineering, teacher training, health and visual communication. Total number of personal 190, total number of learners 130, about 25 in ICT or ODL or educational multimedia. The main fields covered by the project are connected to MathML technlogy and the use of a framework for distance learning accepting MathML documents and for generating such documents. The use of MathML technology has in a very little degree been possible mainly due to the lack of commercial browsers to render it, but the college has followed the development over some years. Buskerud University College has been one of the first in Norway to install a portal for distance learning using ICT and many other instituions wishes to use this portal or to get information about how to create it and use it. Specific tasks: Coordinating institution, Framework, MathML/WebMathematica, ShockWave animations and course design, dessimination (see Work Plan). 1 person 100% full time equivalent.

Høgskolen i Sogn og Fjordane, Sogn og Fjordane University College (inst. in charge of evaluation). University College with faculties Economics and languages, engineering and teacher training. Total number of personal is 230, total numbers of learnes 170, about 50 in ICT or ODL or educational multimedia. The Faculty of Teacher Training is taking part in the Xmath project and aims integrating ICT in teacher training, preservice as well as inservice. The faculty is present involved in a project which offer teacher training and preschool teacher training as ODL programmes. The entire teaching staff is involved and the number of students is about 80. The pedagigical idea is small groups communicating with teachers by means of Internet. Slovenska Technicka Univerzita, Slovak Technical University, Bratislava. Academic staff of Mechanical faculty is about 350, Dept. of Maths is participating in Xmath, number of teachers is 20. At the university there are 4 more faculties: Faculty of Electrical Eng. and informatics, Faculty of Civil eng., Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Chemistral Technologies, each of them having its own Dept. of Maths, with about 20-40 people. At the Dept. of Maths participating in the Xmath project almost all teachres (15) are involved in computer assisted teaching by the use of Mathematica, Statgraph and some educational programmes composed at the department, where about 5 people participated at their composition. The experience in these fields: We organize regular annual seminars for the Slovak republic on teaching Geometry at the technical universities, with the participation of people from the neighbouringcountries, where the usage of computers and new technologies in pedagogical process is one of the maingoals. In the year 1997 a Special SEFI Seminar on Geometry in Engineering Education had been organisedby the Dept. of Maths, one of the topics being the role of computers in this education. In the year 1999 an international conference on MATHEMATICA in teaching Mathematics was held.Specific tasks: MathML/WebMathematica and course design, pedagogical evaluation connected to internal distribution (see Work Plan).3 persons, 75% full time equivalentd) Universidad Pontificia Comillas, MadridTotal number of personal Approximately 1700, including administration and services.
